First, I am surprised that organizations like SEMA, which make their money selling "custom parts and equipment" that will no longer be covered by Allstate, are willing to take this lying down. As for the on-track exclusion, that sucks even worse. It used to be that if you were racing on a track, you wouldn't be covered. Now it means that even untimed driving schools, like NASA HPDEs or SCCA driver training weekends, aren't covered either. It's too bad, really. I wonder if Allstate is paying too many claims on tricked-out street racing cars and has decided that enough is enough. But the real implications (to me anyway) are that any on-track excurstions, autocrosses, etc are no longer covered. And if there is any determination that you were racing someone on the street, your insurance (does this mean liability too?) won't cover you. So if you spin your wheels, fishtail onto the sidewalk and hit an old lady while racing that a**hole in the hopped up Civic next to you, nothing is covered, including the $1 million that the old lady's family sues you for. Wow. : Check this out - from my new Allstate policy:
: "Loss to any custom parts or equipment designed for racing which is installed in your insured auto. This includes, but is not limited to, nitrous oxide systems, roll cages and ai intake modifications." : and : "loss or damage arising out of the participation in a prearranged, organized, or spontaneous: : a. racing contest; : b. speed contest; or : c. use of an auto at a track or course designed for racing which is used for racing or high performance driving, or in practice or preparation for any contest or use of this type. : Looks like time to find a new carrier.
